Week 32: Monday 18th, May Results

Week 30: 27th & 29th April, 2026- Passive voice and revisions

- We corrected our photocopies of possessive pronouns, first conditional sentences, vocabulary of opposite verbs and get.
- We did the grammar and vocabulary revision of units 7&8.
- We revised some nationalities and how to use present and past passive voice in 10C.
- We practised how to talk about inventions.

Homework:
- Workbook up to unit 8 complete and 10C.
- Photocopy of superlatives and verbs followed by to infinitive.
- Revise and ask questions next day!

Week 29: 20th & 22nd April, 2026- Murphy's law and O'Henry's story

 - We practised giving advice for students with problems in cards.
- We read about Murphy's law and how to say it in English with first conditional sentences.
- We saw some of the different meanings of get.
- We practised the different meanings of verbs we tend to confuse in 8B.
- We read and listened to the beginning of Girl, a story by O´Henry to practise possessive pronouns: You must be mine!
- We read sonnet 18 by Shakespeare and understood its meaning: Shall I compare thee...

Week 28: 13th &15th April, 2026- Getting deep in modal verbs!!

-  We practised the use of gerunds after other verbs coming up with ideas about Happiness is...
- We also practised the oral speaking exercise 4 on page 107.
- We saw how paragraphs are organised starting with topic sentences.
- We read about how a journalist learnt Spanish and read about how to use have to, don't have to, must, mustn't.
- We saw the rules to use these modals.
- We corrected a photocopy on rules in the UK.
- We started unit 8 reading about professional advice on relationships.
- We saw how to use modal verb should.
- We practised the pronunciation of long and short u.
- We did a listening exercise on giving advice to some parents.

Homework:
- Workbook of unit 7, if you haven't done ir, and 8A.

This is the provisional schedule of the oral exam in May.

Week 27: 8th April, 2026- Resuming lessons after Easter

- We revised the use of to-infinitive after another verb with cards in a photocopy.
- We saw how to pronounce unstressed to and linking words with the same sound when finishing and starting.
- We did a dictation to complete some questions using the structure to-infinitive.
- We talked in pairs asking and answering those questions.
- We saw how to write an article giving tips.
- We saw verbs followed by gerund and did the grammar part of 7B.

Homework:
- Photocopy of to-infinitive.
- Workbook of part 7B.
- Write an article giving tips.

Week 26: 23rd & 25th March, 2026-

- We practised using will for showing optimism.
- We did a revision of units 5 & 6.
- We saw how to write social media posts.
- We did a gap-filling exercise on Aretha Franklin's I Say a Little Prayer. And we tried to sing.
- We checked the answers of the little test I gave you on Monday.
- We corrected the photocopy of mixed verb forms.
- We started 7A and gave advice to people moving to study in the UK.
- We saw and practised verbs that are followed by to+infinitive.
- We saw a video about tips when moving to the UK.

Homework:
- Writing of unit 6: social media post.
- Photocopy of practice of using to+infinitive
- Workbook unit 7A

Week 25: 16th & 18th March, 2026- The end of the story

- We did Practical English 5 and 6: Pictures of you. The end of Izzy and Ben's love story.
-  In 5, we saw how to follow directions and practised it and in 6 we practised phoning and leaving a message.
- We started 6C with a listening of a patient with his psychiatrist, telling his dream.
- We revised verb tenses.
- We practised modifiers for adjectives and adverbs.
- We practised how to pronounce letters ea and ear.
- We saw a video about the meanings of dreams.

Homework: workbook 6C and page 94 and the reading on page 95.

Week 24: 9th & 11th March, 2026- Different uses of will/won't

- We talked about being an optimist or pessimist with will.
- We read about negative thinking.
- We started unit 6B and read about an old love story.
- We read and practised about other uses of will: offers, decisions and promises.
- We practised the pronunciation of two-syllable verbs.
- We saw vocabulary of verbs with back and their meanings

Homework
- Workbook 6B and photocopy being optimistic.

Week 23: 2nd & 4th March, 2026- The relationships crumbles!!

- We practised quantifiers talking ablut our drinking habits in a spoken exercise.
- We did number 3 of Pictures of you, the story of Ben and Izzy.
- We practised how to take an item of clothing back to the shop.
- We were anxious to know about the relationship so we did number 4 of Pictures of you.
- Here we practised how to buy at a chemist's.
- We started unit 6 with vocabulary about opposite verbs.
- We practised will/won't for predictions.
- We practised the pronunciation of the contractions of will.

- Reading exercise 5. page 89.
- Workbook 6A

Week 22: 23th & 25th February, 2026- Superlatives and quantifiers

- We practised superlatives with a set of sentences.
- We did a listening on how to be friendlier.
- We practised sentence stress.
- We saw how to write describing the place where we live.
- We practised quantifiers talking about what we drink.
- We read about liquids that are good or bad for us.
- We learnt about too many/ too much and (not) enough.
- We practised sound /ʌ/ and its different spellings.
Homework:
- Workbook for 5C.
- Photocopy on comparatives

On Wednesday three of our classmates did a random act of kindness bringing a little something for all the classmates. Thank you Marisa, Inés and Daniel!!!
