Week 2: 20th &22 September, 2021- The beginning of the course

- Here you have the Entry checker Answer Key. Aquí tenéis las claves de respuesta para el folleto gris de repaso del curso A1.

- This week we finished 1A and started 1B with a listening and vocabulary on describing people.

Homework: do the grey pages of 1A and some of the exercises of the Entry Checker, the ones you don't remember. Remember not to do units 10, 11 or 12.

Week 1: 15th September 2021-The first steps of the new course

 


Dear students, welcome to the new year!!
I hope you enjoy this course and have a rich and gratifying learning experience at the school.

On Wednesday:
- We got familiar with the school and COVID organisation.
- We had a look at the book of the course.
- We asked questions to the teacher and to a classmate.

Week 29: 5th May, 2021- Last day activities

 


This last day we did a lot of oral practice, we:

- Practised comparatives
- Practised be going to for plans
- We practised be going to for predictions
- We sang a song by Queen, Who wants to live forever.
- We revised many of the year's activities.
- We ate cakes!
- We gave Guadalupe her competition prize!
- I received a beautiful present in the card and the bag, thanks a lot!!

Week 28: 26th & 28th April, 2021- Salt and sugar!!

On Monday:

- We revised the questions about salt/sugar.
- We practised the pronunciation  ˈʃʊɡə(r)/and /sɔːlt/
- We read about interesting facts about Salt and Sugar.
- We practised questions and answers about how much salt and sugar we eat.
- We saw how to say high numbers.
- We worked on a listening about a quiz show.

Homework
- Reading exercise 5 in 9C Pub Quizzes, parts a, b&c

On Wednesday:

- We practised How much/ how many questions.
- We practised the pronunciation of /ə/
- We read about Pub quizzes
- We did a reading and listening test.
. We wrote about writing and voted for the best photo!!

Week 27: 19th & 21st April, 2021- Countable and uncountable nouns

On Monday:

- We revised some food words with the quizz in the book (9A).
- We did vocabulary bank together.
- We practise a/an/some/any for countable and uncountable nouns.
- We completed 9A and finished with a speaking about our last day's food.

On Wednesday:

- We practised countable/uncountable nouns with a shopping list.
- We saw quantifiers and containers for food.
- We studied the use of how much/ how many/ a little/ a few/ none.
- We did a writing in the past for Gema to correct.

Week 26: 12th &14th April, 2021- There is/there are- There was/there were: ghosts and noises!!

On Monday:
- We practised there is/there are with the image of a living room.

- In pairs, we talked about rooms in our houses.

- We practised the pronunciation of dipthongs.

- We drew rooms and described them to our classmates.

- We read and listened to stories of room 333 at Langham Hotel (8C)

- We practised the grammar rules of there was/ there were.

Homework.:
- Writing describing your flat/house (8B)
- Reading revision units 7&8

On Wednesday:
- We practised was there/were there at room 333.
- We practised silent letters.
- We saw a video of a haunted castle.
- We did thre reading and listening of revision 7&8.
- We practised the formation of questions.
- We started 9A: countable and uncountable nouns

Week 25: Wednesday 7th April, 2021- Back from Easter holidays

- We explained things from our Easter holidays.

- We got the results from the little listening and reading tests before the holidays.

- We made and answered questions from an exercise in the present and the past in pairs.

- We saw vocabulary from the house (page 247)

- We did some listening exercises about the Travers's house (8B)

- We saw how to use there is/ there are

Week 24: 22nd & 24th March, 2021- Revision of the past

On Monday:
- We revised the simple past with some exercises.
- We saw how to give directions with Practical English pages.
- We started the mystery murder of 8A.

On Wednesday:
- We revised past simple answers and activities in the past.
- We practised Giving directions with a listening.
- We finished the mystery of Jeremy Travers's murder in 8A.
- We practised how to ask and answer questions by being police officers and criminals.
- We did two listening comprehensions and a reading one for Gema to correct.
- We saw the importance of a good pronunciation with a short video ad.

Homework:
- Do workbook up to 8A included and online practice.

Week 23: 15th & 17th March, 2021- All the simple past

On Monday:
- Revision of simple past, regular verbs.
- Spoken practice of simple past.
- 7C New Year's Eve, simple past of irregular verbs.

Homework:
- Workbook of 7C.

On Wednesday:
- We revised irregular simple past verb forms.
- We finished 7C.
- We listened to and did an exercise with Something Stupid

Homework:
- Do workbook unit 7
- Write exercise 6c from unit 7C

Week 22: 8th &10th March, 2021- Women's day and the simple past

On Monday:
- Revision of likes and dislikes and the dates.
- Unit 7A, listening about Vincent Van Gogh and grammar.

- Sentence stress.

- Biographies of famous people and self-portraits.

- Suffixes to make professions.

- Video to celebrate Women's Day.

- Write about an invention by a woman on our virtual wall.

- Speaking practice exercise 5 unit 7A.

On Wednesday:

- Practice of was/ were and past questions with the revision of time.
- 7B: reading and listening about name and place mistakes.
- The simple past of regular verbs -ed endings.
- Pronunciation of -ed ending.

Homework:
- Do the workbook of parts 7A & 7B.

Week 21: 1st & 3rd March, 2021- Objects and likes and dislikes

On Monday:

- Revision of object pronouns and end of the story of Hassan and Walid.
- Pronounciation of vowels and words from the story (end of 6A)
- Ordinal numbers and dates (6B).
- Pronunciation of interdental consonants.

Homework: exercise 3 in 6B (the reading)

On Wednesday:

- Revision of dates with a bingo
- Grammar like + (verb -ing).
- Oral practice of likes/dislikes, use of to be and do, saxon genitive and family vocabulary and the weather.

Homework:
- Writing exercise 5b from 6B.
- Workbook of unit 6.
